Jotting down notes

Jotting down notes….

Everybody’s building ships and boats

Some are building monuments

Others jotting down notes…… ( all unattributed quotations on this blog  are from Bob Dylan)

My view on the world has dramatically changed in the last few weeks. Until Sept 11th I lived with the  glorious sight of the English Channel,. At night I would go to bed with the moon shimmering on the sea. In the morning, as I drew the curtains, I would be dazzled by the brightness of the sun on the sea and the ships and boats making their way across the Channel.

Here, it is different. Here,  I’m surrounded by construction, living as I do on an active building site. If it’s not the diggers belonging to Barratt Homes, it’s my next door neighbour building his shed. These are the things- not unpleasant by any means- that make up  my view on the world.

Yet I myself am not building- apart from a garden shed (not my own work!) and the necessary furnishings of the house.

I am jotting down notes.

It’s been 7 ½ weeks since I last preached a sermon, a month into my (at least 6 months long) sabbatical from leading worship. I find  I need to communicate! So I’m hoping this blog will help me and that people may be interested and even possibly inspired by its contents. Maybe that ‘aint no more than vanity’ but I hope not. So here we go!
